Honduras is,..

Breathtakingly beautiful
The perfect temperature
Surrounded by mountains
Swimming in poverty
Lost in darkness
In need of hope
Calling out for love . . .

I've only been in this country for a few days and already it's so amazingly clear how much Honduras needs God.

The landscape is enough to take your breath away. We took a bus from El Salvador and I was lucky enough to get a window seat (thanks Bethany!). The mountains started rising up about the time the sun was starting to set. I remember wishing I could paint the magnificent oranges and yellow the oats were quietly transformed into as the sun started to disappear from the sky. Every twist and turn of the mountain brought forth a new painting, a new desire to be able to capture the sight forever.

We are being hosted by Zion's Gates.

Their property is located on a mountainside that overlooks the city.
At night you look above and are instantly swallowed in the stars, in the twinkle, of the sky
but look out and the city lights equally take your breath away.

There's always a slight breeze that rustles through the trees
and a few tree swings that will instantly take your worries away.

We were given the option to camp inside or outside.
Nicole was gracious enough to let me use her tent for the month.
I was going to venture into the wild (ok, next to the host's house on property) to get some solitude
but Nicole started talking about dirt and mud and bugs.
So I was inclined to stay inside, in a corner all my own.
Besides, only a handful of people chose to stay inside . . .

until it started raining.

Suddenly there was a swarm of tents piling up.
Becki and I were having a random conversation
when she got this weird look on her face
and exclaimed that the ceiling is leaking.
Being problem solvers by nature,
we tried to patch it with duct tape, which turned out to be an instant failure.
Instead, we scooted the tent over and found a bucket to catch the falling rain.

All over the building leaks started popping up
and I just stood there with a childlike smile on my face.

What an adventure my life has become.

This month the entire squad (yes, all 42 of us) is together! AHH! I'm so beyond excited. My team will be working on building a home for one of the children the ministry hosts. We've also been given the opportunity to go into the juvenile jails to love on the kids and share the Gospel. The ministry has broken the barrier between government and God here.

Like I said above:

"My, oh my, what an adventure my life has become."
