There's no point in removing a tumor
if the body is going into organ failure.
Seems a bit straightforward, and pretty blunt but think about it; the body is going to die anyway.
Why are we focusing all of our attention on the tumor when the vital organs are giving out?
What's the point of removing that measly tumor if the heart isn't going to pump anymore?
If the kidneys, the liver, the intestines are just giving up?
We're in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
It's a country known for it's
amazingly delicious pad Thai,
to die for bubble tea,
beautiful fabrics,
quirky styles,
new age technology,
and an overwhelming black market of human trafficking and prostitutes.
It's a land of Buddhism and karma.
It's a land rich in culture, intertwined with respect and honor.
And it's a land that is dying.
We spent the first two days in Thailand in Bangkok, learning about the culture and our ministries.
The words on everyone's lips was 'sex trafficking.'
And rightfully so, as it's a huge epidemic.
But I felt my heart breaking for so much more than the 'tumor.'
My heart is breaking for the dying body.
My heart is breaking for the villages where girls grow up thinking they are a curse because they were the first born.
My heart is breaking for the girls that move to the cities and sell themselves into prostitution so that they can send home money to their families that live in the slums.
My heart is breaking for the misconception of the village girls to meet 'western men' who will want to 'marry them and give them a good life and help support their family' but really, they are walking right into being trafficked.
My heart is breaking for an epidemic that could be stopped if we just started focusing on the organ failure. If we opened our eyes to more than just the tumor.
If we started PREVENTION.
My heart is breaking for this nation;
for a nation that needs a new heart.

P.S.
(((This month we are working with a ministry that divides into three separate parts:
Love Acts = bar ministry
X-Life = village ministry
WonGen Kafe = college ministry
All three of these ministries serve a purpose in the big picture.
Love Acts befriends prostitutes and, after building trust and friendship, shares the gospel and helps to create new lives.
X-Life goes into the villages and teaches the truth about 'westerners' and the 'big city.' It helps create income for those in the village, it helps to bring light into the darkness of Buddhism, and it builds friendship that covers multiple generations.
WonGen Kafe builds relationships with the 50,000 students that attend Chiang Mai University by offering a safe atmosphere to study and having activities that allow for friendships to be built.
Because Thailand is a Buddhist nation, we are focusing on building relationship with the locals. We are taking on the ideal of what Jesus would do. We are living life with them, loving them, and sharing the Gospel simply by our testimony in the way that we live.
Oh, and I'm working with WonGen specifically. 😉
Please keep my team, as well as my entire squad, in your prayers this month.)))
