I will be a mommy to 21 children. Yup, you heard me…

My kids range in age from 3-13. They don’t speak English; except for Hector who speaks a few words. None of them took after me in looks but they all stole my heart instantly. Our team has been learning the responsibilities of Casa de mi Padre.

My “duties” include:

Making tortillas that look like flat footballs
Washing dishes in a sink that causes back aches for anyone taller than a Guatemalan
Folding laundry in the Guatemalan sun (love it!)
Doing load after load of laundry, and just when you think it’s all done you come back the next day and there’s more
Ironing (my favorite)
Jumping on a trampoline
Holding a little girl listening to worship music on my phone
Attempting to retrieve toys that were thrown over a wall into the cornfield next door (the corn was over 6ft)
Helping with homework

Next week our team will be taking over the duties for the workers at “la casa.” We will be sleeping over and waking up at 5:30am to make breakfast and help the kids get ready for school, afterwards we will be cleaning up doing the daily duties, playing with the kids who did not go to school and then they will all come back and we will feed them lunch, clean up and do it all over again.

Below are a few videos to give you a glimpse into this awesome life.
