This morning our team went to a small church in Kampong Cham. It has become more evident to me the dense spiritual climate that hangs over this city. As we sat inside the small walls of the church it became evident that satan is building a fortress in this country.
The sounds of the Buddhist temple rang out through the country side; so overpowering I could barely concentrate on what the preacher was saying. As he spoke from the Word of God the chanting became louder and louder. Small distractions within a church service are easy to ignore or recover from but this was a constant overpowering attack.
Buddhist, Muslim, Christian all trying to exist within the realm of the city boundaries. Each fighting for all the souls that live here. Buddhists are buddhist because generations of their family have worshiped this false idol. Not because they have had some deep conviction or spiritual revolution. Muslims have taken a stronghold, by placing small Muslim communities within cities to spread out among the inhabitants. They have a goal of making this country the Muslim hub of Asia by 2021. Christians are here fighting for those blinded and misled. However many Cambodians view Jesus as a God for Americans.
Mentalities, ideas, history, relationships all play a part in this fight. Breaking these things can only be done through the power of God. Our time this month in Cambodia is short, but I know that our fight for this country will last past the two weeks we have left. I challenge you today, while reading this, to put the missionaries and christians of Cambodia in your prayers. Keep the people who bow down and hand over the little they have to a statue in your prayers.
