Hello Everyone,

Below is a blog from Katie Hannon, she left on the race in October, and is currently serving in Thailand. Below is a story about a woman who works in the bars of Thailand. Truly touching story and a small glimpse/idea of what the race is about.

My second night in the bar

God truly places something on us that can’t be resisted

Last night after about the 22nd game of connect four with “Hannah” (I’m not going to use her real name for her protection) something amazing happened. She dumped the pieces out onto the table and stopped, leaned in and told Melina and I her precious story. It was as if she was surrounded by her confidants, her only friends on this late night. She let us in on a secret part of her world, almost as if she gave us the key to open the sturdy, but worn down box in the back of her closet. As she pulled us in she told us about her four children, her elderly parents and how she takes care of them all. She gets up early in the morning to take her sons to university
                                                                      Which she pays for
She comes home and is a full time mom to her other kids and her parents
                                                                                                                                       Which she pays for
She used to work as a Thai masseuse, but it ruined her hands and she had to have two surgeries where they cut open the palms of her hands and left her in a sling for three months
                                                                                                          Which she pays for
She had the strength and courage to leave her husband who used to beat her, and even sent her to the hospital because he broke a bottle over her head.
                                                      Which she pays for
And now she works in the bars every night in order to support her family
                                                                                                                                 Which she pays for

Little does she know that this life she is living, this dark life, this struggle,
this life that people look down on as they walk by, is forgiven.

Which HE paid for

Are you moved?
