Well…I have never blogged before. This is going to be a new experience so here we go. Anyways, I was thinking about what I wanted my first blog to be about; and then I decided to tell you a little bit about myself and how I even got to this point of being given an opportunity to go on the World Race.
My name is Natalie Weyand, if you didn’t already realize that. I was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. I have two amazing parents, Dale and Jamie, an almost married older brother, Chris, and a wonderful soon-to-be-Aggie little sister, Emily. Let’s just say that our family will be going through some major life changes this summer. I grew up going to church, playing sports, and trying to figure out who I was. Although a lot happened in my childhood and in high school, I am just going to skip to the good stuff – college. I am about to graduate from Texas A&M University…wow that is weird to say. Aggieland has been very very good to me. This school and the traditions and the people will always hold a special place in my heart. Some of my absolute favorite memories happened in my years away at college. During these past four years, I have met some of the most incredible people, I have been a part of an organization that has developed me in more ways than I can count, I have never been hacked on Facebook or social media more, I have never laughed as much, and I have never learned more about myself. The Lord has been good and faithful to me even when times were not always easy. I wish I had more time to go into detail of all that He taught me about Himself and myself and how He changed my life forever. But what one of the biggest things that I learned throughout college is this: Jesus alone is ENOUGH! He can handle anything that we bring to him – sadness, loneliness, brokenness, anger, and so much more. He is the God of “immeasurably more” and more than anything wants EVERY one of children to know how much He loves and adores and wants them. My hope is that my life in college has reflected that very truth.
Ok I am going to stop there before I get too much on a tangent. But that is just a small tid bit about who I am and where I come from. Let’s now go into “Why the World Race?” – how did I even get here? For me it kind of all started after my sophomore year of college when I realized that I really did not want to pursue chiropractic school or any other graduate school for that matter. I honestly just wanted to coach and teach to no surprise of my parents. I think they hoped that I would go to some graduate school, but were not surprised when I told them that I really just wanted to teach and coach when I was older. From there through a series of conversations and circumstances, I could feel the Lord calling me to do something crazy and different. Naturally from that the Lord kept bringing me back to the World Race. I mean what is normal about going to 11 different countries in 11 months telling and showing people about the good news of Jesus Christ. Now that I am here it is surreal to think that in 7 or so months I will literally be traveling all over the world with one purpose – love God and love others. I am super excited for the journey that I am about to embark on and greatly humbled that the Lord would send someone like me to do something like this. The verse that I am praying over this journey is Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Please know how much I would greatly appreciate prayers throughout this entire journey starting today.
As I conclude, I offer an invitation to join me in this crazy adventure:
1. PRAYER PRAYER PRAYER: Please pray starting today that the Lord would prepare my heart for what I will be experiencing and that He would remove any expectations that I have going into it. This is the most important way that you can join me!
2. Support Me: You can do this by the link next to my blog. I will also be selling T-shirts for $20 so if you would like to purchase one let me know. Any donation helps and is more than appreciated.
3. Continue to read my blog and see what craziness is happening.
Well I think that’s all I got. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about anything!
Peace and blessings,
Nat
