So it’s coming to a close, the whole squad is at the compound and we are about to head out. I love having everyone together and hearing everyone’s story but, sadly, comparison kept creeping in and stealing the beauty in their stories. Instead of hearing how God had moved them in many different amazing ways, I heard “why not you”. No I didn’t get to have an in depth conversation with my ministry host, there was no free dress that will forever remind me of my time here in Cote D’Iviore. I’m not taking home a souvenir; I am taking home memories that will follow me for the rest of my life.
I am taking home hearing stories of boys who turned into men of God. I have seen women dance after not being able to walk at all. I saw Jesus in the eyes of children who danced with us. I saw the beauty of God’s creation all around me when I woke up in the morning. I saw a Muslim man approached by a bunch of random white people on the street, followed them into a church and then next day personally accepted Christ into his heart. I was told a part of my future that I never would have believed before this season of my life.
This month in Cote D’Iviore has been a spectacular, amazing and crazy, adventure that Lord had thrown me in and for that I know that this month, this adventure is my own. This month was my own personal gift from the Lord. Everyone on my squad has been given their own personal gift from the Lord as well. When God hands you a gift, there is no need to compare.
Thanks God for giving me the gift of sleeping in an Orange Hotel and room to Eno!! I’ll miss this but cherish it for the rest of my life, now off to Ghana to see what gifts will be there.
