It has been another great week here in Mijas, Spain. This week was a little different then normal as it was our practicum week. We were told to serve the community or nearby area for the week rather then having classes. A few of the other interns and I did an English camp for the children as they were out of school this week. We had 8 students come Monday through Thursday for a few hours each day. They seemed to enjoy it as we ran it similar to a Vacation Bible School program. I enjoyed teaching them Bible lessons each day incorporating English words like obedience, teamwork, and trust. It was fun to get to know some of the children in this area. We hope to do another English camp maybe in April and hopefully more kids will come!

Aside from teaching the camp other good things happened this week. Since we weren’t having class the temptation was to sleep in a little bit and relax. Something I have really realized in my life is that I’m so lazy when it comes to waking up and getting out of bed in the morning. This may seem like a little thing but really it’s not. When we are lazy in the small things we are lazy in the big things too. I decided last weekend that I wanted to learn to be more disciplined this week and hoped to accomplish that through waking up earlier and making sure to exercise and spend time in the word every day. Its amazing how 3 simple things can bring so much life and purpose to a day. There was a few days where I didn’t wake up as early as I would have liked but overall it was a great week that was very needed and the Lord taught me so much through time spent with him.

I’m looking forward to having classes start up again on Monday. The Lord is teaching me so much. Learning new things yet knowing that if I don’t change as I learn it will just be head knowledge that does nothing. I feel so incredibly blessed to be able to take this time to build a firm foundation and prepare for the future. Time is going by fast as we have almost come to the end of our first term. I really want to make the most of it and dig in deep! These are a lot of the thoughts that I’ve been thinking recently. Some verses really inspired me in these thoughts this afternoon and I hope that you will be encouraged in reading them too!

Colossians 1: 28-29

Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.

I pray that I’m living my life in a way that people see Jesus and that I’m able to point everyone to Him. Praise God that He works in us yet we need to be actively pursuing ways He can work through us.

Colossians 3:15

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

I know that in my own life I pray for peace in my heart when troubling circumstances come but all to often God is giving it and I don’t receive it.

Colossians 4:2

Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving.

I was really challenged by this verse to really make prayer more of a part of my life. I think I go through waves of praying a lot for others and then honestly, forgetting to pray. This is an area I need more discipline in.
