This past week a few of us visited the home of a woman with 4 children, one of them was just born two weeks ago. Her name is Zendila and some of the girls from our team had come to them once before and we went back to give her a few clothes for the new baby and some groceries. Zendila was very blessed by our visit and the two other children who are not old enough for school seemed to enjoy the love and attention we gave them.
What continues to shock me is how little the people know about basic things to stay healthy and feeling well. When we asked if we could pray for Zendila about anything she told us she had a headache. I asked her my mom’s favorite question and solution for all sicknesses…. Have you had any water today? Just recently a nurse from England had explained to us how so many nursing mothers don’t understand the importance of drinking water. Zendila said she hadn’t had any and that they currently didn’t have any water. We prayed for her and she said her headache went away but I also told her that she needed to drink lots of water everyday.
When we were leaving her house she told her children to walk with us to the carepoint as they hadn’t eaten yet. As I walked, carrying the 3 year old girl, I thought about the things this woman faced on a daily bases. She wouldn’t have had any food had we not brought her groceries, her husband works but has TB. Her newborn was so precious and I just can’t imagine raising my children not being able to feed them, or having water to wash and clothes to clothe them. I reminded her that our Father in heaven sees her and cares about her and will provide for her needs, but somehow I found it hard to say these words. I don’t know what its like to go without food and water! Please pray for her and others like her who live in such poverty.
The team is doing very well. We’ve talked a lot about listening to God’s voice and letting him direct us in our days rather than just doing things to do them. I know that some of the things we are involved with, such as speaking at a school wouldn’t have been possible if we had not listened for him to guide us. One way we listened more was set prayer times to pray and listen. The past 3 days we had all night prayer where each of us would take an hour to pray and write down the words the Lord was giving us for our team and this country. It was so neat to read the words and see the pictures that God gave us. Having constant prayer all night for 3 nights in a row was also really neat and something I would like to do more.
Hope everyone is well in the USA! Please pray that many more people are reached in our last few weeks. Thank you!
