Our first week here in Peru was spent preparing for a VBS that we were to do in Huamachuco, a city six hours away. It was hard at first… spending day and night preparing for something that we knew was going to last a couple hours a day for three days. It was difficult not seeing immediate fruits of our labor, but we continued to press in and pray for God to give us perseverence.

Thursday night at 10 we headed to the bus station and began our journey to Huamachuco. Six hours, a horror film (thank you bus), and 35 seconds of sleep later, we arrived.

We were greeted by Elizabeth, the lady whose house the church is at, and were taken to this room to pile in and sleep for the night. I gotta say I don't know that there has been a night on the race where I have slept better than I did in that room. Tiny means cozy which means lots of body heat which means not freezing.

The next morning after breakfast we went to see where we would be having the VBS. We were surprised to see that the church was the garage of Elizabeth. So much love and truth and worship poured out of that room while we were there. We then dressed up like clowns and went out on the town to invite the kids to the festivities.

Through bible stories, skits, games, songs, and crafts we taught the children
about the power of our God as told in the story of Daniel.

These kids were precious and so eager to learn about God and their smiles were contagious. By the end of the three days they called us by name and were so sad to see us leave. We were also sad to leave but thankful for the opportunity we were given to share the love and power of Christ with these kids through a fun few days.

We also got some good team time in at the end of the week. Happy viewing.
