I’ve received a few questions about my fundraising specifically pertaining to what is included in the $16,254 I need to raise. The following is a cost breakdown for the World Race trips as of November 7, 2011:

Program Expenses:

This category includes direct and indirect costs such as training camp, participant field expenses and support field expenses. Essentially, this covers the costs for my 11-month trip – meals, lodging, and travel by land, sea or air as well as the premium for my travel insurance.

Program Development:

Funds are reinvested into the general World Race fund to grow the program and international relationships.

Administrative Expenses:

Overhead covers all indirect expenses such as accounting, IT, human resources, donor relations, marketing and development departments.

Items not covered in the $16,254:

  • Vaccinations and Medicine: $200 (I will be using my HSA for this expense)
  • Gear (backpack, tent, sleeping pad, etc.): $1,000
  • Flights to and from Training Camp: $500
  • Flights to and from US Launch/Receiving city: $500

For my gear needs, I’ve started a gift registry at REI.com. If it’s on your heart to help me in this capacity, you can look up my registry by my full name or click on the link: http://www.rei.com/GiftRegistryDetails/3594858

 Fundraising Deadlines:

  • By June 27, 2014: $3,500 raised and in my account – COMPLETED!
  • By August 22, 2014: $7,500 raised and in my account – COMPLETED!
  • By December 1, 2014 (3 months on the field): $11,000 raised and in my account – COMPLETED!
  • By March 1, 2015 (6 months on the field): $16,254 – FULLY FUNDED – COMPLETED!

I provide you with my deadlines to be fully transparent. However, God has given me undeniable peace about this fundraising process and I am stepping out in faith to say that I believe He will provide ALL my funds prior to me stepping foot in my first country. I can’t explain it, but it’s there.

Given the holidays, I’m still in the process of personally delivering my support letters. If you haven’t received one yet, and want to ensure that you’re on my list, please feel free to message me on Facebook or contact me through my blog (see “Contact Me” on the left hand side). Also, I would LOVE the opportunity to share my heart and story at your next small group meeting – if you invite me, I’ll be there!

I also have a few prayer requests – I would appreciate it if you would add to your list:

  • That I would be present and focused at my job – God has moved my heart so far from where it was just a short 9 months ago that I’m having a difficult time concentrating and dealing with the some of the stress that accompanies my job
  • That I would be proactive and find a Christian counselor – a condition to my acceptance on the World Race is that I seek out 6 months of counseling for various “challenges” I’ve experienced in my life – my prayer is that God would provide me with someone I can trust and who would meet me where I am in my life
  • That I would continue to actively and passionately pursue God and His peace – that I wouldn’t hold anything else closer to me than Him – that He would show me His glory that I may know Him more

I pray that you had a very Merry Christmas with family and friends and that you have a happy New Year!

For His Glory,

Natalie
