L-O-V-E
A four letter word.
Compacted with meaning
And one we've all heard.
What is it?
What does it mean?
What does it look like?
Is there Such thing?
Much more than candy,
cards, and cute teddy bears.
Is the story of a greater love,
A man that really
Cares.
Not care about your looks,
Or what you can offer him.
But loves you for who you are
And the person from within.
He's not after your money,
Or the benefits in bed.
He's after your heart,
Your WHOLE heart.
A personal relationship instead.
Never to leave you or forsake you
When the next best thing walks by,
But to promise an unconditional love,
An eternal covenant beyond the day you die.
Love isn't a feeling, hormones, or sweet, sweet, butterflies.
It's peace, joy, patience, and trust
rather than tears and chocolate covered, manipulative lies.
Love is greater than lust and a temporary satisfaction,
It's much, much more than a mutual physical attraction.
Love is a man.
Who died for a relationship with you,
Because of who you are and not what you do.
Love isn't a red rose which will quickly wilt away,
But it's the red blood shed that remains forever,
Forever and a day.
Blood that takes Your shame, your guilt, and your sin.
It frees you from your past, never to be the same again.
Your past no longer can Identify you.
This love claims you're redeemed and completely made new.
Love is sacrifice.
That took the penalty for you and me.
It's the breaking of chains to set the captives free.
Free from addictions, pain, depression and broken hearts.
Mending all the pieces and repairing all the parts.
Love is wise and accountable.
Never wicked in its ways.
It's not filling a void to feel valued
Or to tickle your ears with praise.
Love isn't a note that says all the right mushy things,
But it's the truth of God that mounts you up on eagle's wings.
It's not pretty little lies that sound so right
But it's the opportunity to walk by faith
And not by sight
Love is a choice.
Which was made to pave the way,
Not hold your hand one day and the next go away.
This love is real, it's forever and true,
But it's never forced;
It's always up to you.
Up to you to receive and for you to give.
The opportunity is at hand,
For you to take a true valentine,
This love, which is a man.
Jesus.
