this is an answer from the Q&A blog. feel free to ask more! 🙂

Question: How did the hyena eat your chacos? And what is the Prum Bayon?

Answer: I'm a little dramatic.

Here's the truth about the hyena: When I was in Swaziland, we had the weekends off and one weekend we hopped the border to ZA (that's South Africa) to go on a self guided safari (a hit or miss experience, especially when you camp out on a golf course). We arrived, we bought our tickets then immediately left to go get lunch (you know you've been on the field too long when coffee takes priority over lions). When we got to the grocery store, I realized I was missing a chaco. Since I hated them, I didn't worry, and instead walked inside barefoot like a true local. When we got back to Kreuger, a park ranger told me a hyena had gotten my shoe- but he saved it for me.

I'll never know the truth. 😉

The Prum Bayon is a real hotel in the heart of Siem Reap where we had our "go home" debrief (right before month 9). The hotel owner has been osting Racers for years. The place is awesome- it had food, aircon, a swimming pool and even beds with sheets. Best of all, the guy who owns it is the sweetest man alive. If you ever go, you'll see giant posters from squads all over the hotel…
