It’s only been a few days that we’ve been in Thailand, but it seems that already we’ve seen so much. We’ve had two teams sent to prayer walk the busy bar streets and two teams go out at night to do ministry there. We’ve had two days to work on the plot of land that will be turned into a community development center and two nights of serious intercessory prayer. This afternoon we had two women come over to SHE ministries, looking to leave their lives of prostitution at the bars because some of our team had spoken to them about a life of freedom.
And yet, in light of all of this, there is something more pressing on my mind.
Our first night here, I stayed back to intercede in prayer while some of the group went to the bars. Some may question the validity of leaving behind 20 people to pray, because it feels like that “doesn’t do anything” and those people are ineffective for the evening.
But “the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective [James 5:16]” and we have been called to pray.
Right before we walked into the prayer room to send them off and begin our night, I received an email from a friend at home about a situation in desperate need of a miracle. One of our friends had been in a serious accident and was left in a state of paralysis. People were flooding in from all over the country to be near him, to pray for him, to help walk beside those in need of hugs and a night off- and here I am, stuck in Thailand, unable to be there to support and love on and cry with my college family, my Hope away from home.
This month’s ministry is all about the power of prayer, so now I’m opening it up for you to get involved.
Please join me in praying for my brother James. He needs a miracle right now, and I think we all need a reminder of how important prayer is. Pray that he regains full use of his body and that he starts school on time, physically fit and ready to learn and coach and live.
I'm expecting miracles. I can't wait to share them with you, to encourage you in your walk as well.
And the prayer offered in faith
will make the sick person well;
the Lord will raise him up.
If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.
James 5:15
