Our last week of ministry in Malaysia we went to an indigenous village in the mountains. Our host was unable to pick us up so she arranged for us to be picked up by a friend. World Race puts us in contact with host families and we walk into multiple situations with open arms because they said these people are safe. The contacts we stay with set us up with friends and again we go willingly because we are told it’s ok.
The friend that came to pick us up brought a car that was too small for 6 ladies and had to call another friend with a truck. While we waited we attempted small talk…I say attempted because he didn’t speak English well and gave up trying. When the friend arrived we were excited because his English was excellent and we would have someone to translate in the village. We were disappointed to find out that he wasn’t coming with us.
We all ended up all getting into the friend’s truck. 3 in the cab and 3 in the back. The roads were windy, rocky, bumpy, narrow, and had steep drop offs. Yet those of us in the cab slept and those in the back giggled all the way up the mountain. Not once did anyone ask, do you have a license? Have you driven a standard before (his car was automatic and the truck wasn’t)? Do you know these roads well?
I guess I find this funny/ironic because I question God about everything…Who, What, When, Where, Why, Why Not????? I can put my life in the hands of people I know nothing about and be perfectly content, but I treat God like He doesn’t have a clue. I know God can handle all of my question, but learning to trust…especially after realizing that you truly don’t trust Him like you though you did; isn’t easy. It’s a slow process, but I’ve asked God to help me through it. Please pray for me…I can use all the help I can get.
Hopefully I’ll have internet strong enough to post pictures soon. Last month I was on an team with 5 other fabulous ladies in their 30’s. We’ve dubbed ourselves the Golden Girls. Tera (terawhite.theworldrace.org) put together her first video and it’s super cute, so be on the lookout for that!!
