For this month in Cambodia, my team has been asked to serve as an Unsung Heroes team. The purpose of this month is for us to find and meet with people doing ministry in Cambodia. These people are considered Unsung Heroes because they are striving to bring God’s kingdom to this nation with little or no support from the outside. Our task is to connect with them to see what God is doing through their ministry and to see if they would be good contacts for World Race and AIM in the future.
I am excited for this month but anxious as well. This month requires listening prayer, a concept that is fairly new to my whole team. We are not given a rigid schedule of places to go and people to meet. Instead we are told to ask God where He wants to go and who He wants us to meet. We serve a God who speaks to us and directs us. We want to trust Him to do that.
“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.” [John 16:13]
“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” [Jeremiah 33:3]
“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.” [Romans 8:14]
Since debrief ended earlier this week, our days have been filled with prayer and listening, and then researching based on what we hear from God. As we each sit before God, we wait for him to show us words, images and feelings. We wait for him to give us direction. It’s hard, especially when the concept is new, but each of us is learning to trust God. Even when the word or image he gives us seems completely random, we are already seeing how it all comes together when we compile our thoughts. I am already amazed at the ways God has directed us! He has a plan for the month. It is up to us to press into him and listen to what he has in store for us.

- Pray we would be confident in what we hear from the Lord and we would be intentional in seeking to hear from him at all times.
- Pray we would be confident in our follow through as well, especially with conversations.
- Pray God would open doors into new ministries and contacts.
- Finally, pray for team unity – that we would be intentional. Pray that we would love each other well. Pray that we would all fight hard to make the most of every opportunity we are given this month!
