What would you do if you only had 75 days left of life as you know it?
Today marks “75 days left” on my countdown to World Race Launch. Leaving for the race is by no means the end of my life, but it is a goodbye to life as I know it. I got accepted to the Race in the fall, but life has continued to run its usual course, with the same busy routine week after week. It was actually at the “100 day” mark that reality hit me full force. I am actually going to be leaving…for almost a year…approximately 335 days. And the 100 days I had left has quickly become 75 days. Time is going fast.
Part of me wants to freak out. 75 days left… and being a procrastinator there is plenty to worry about. 75 days left to prepare. 75 days to get all my gear and figure out how to pack it. 75 days to fundraise. 75 days to make sure I have the right vaccinations and prescriptions. 75 days to get any financial and legal affairs in order. 75 days to make sure I say all my goodbyes.
However, if I only have 75 days, I don’t want to spend them all freaking out and worrying.
“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? … Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.” – Matthew 6:27, 34
With Easter coming up, it is the perfect time to remember that Jesus came so that we could have life. “I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” – John 10:10
I have 75 days to live life to the fullest here in Iowa. I do not want to neglect my relationship with God and his call for my daily life. I want to be a light for Christ in the Quad City area. I want to love and encourage people. God has surrounded me with amazing friends and family and I want to make the most of my time with them. I want to have fun and laugh a lot. I want to make awesome memories.
Now, in the 75 days I have left, I am sure there will be a few freak out days, but overall, I am looking forward to making the most of the time that God has given me. Each day is a gift to be enjoyed and to be shared.
You may not plan to leave life as you know it anytime soon, but that should not mean you take life for granted. Treasure each day that God gives you. Live life to the fullest. And make the most of every opportunity.
