After four flights, a 24 hour layover, and an overnight train ride – a total of five days travel – we finally made it to Oradea, Romania where we will be spending our fourth month working in construction with Habitat for Humanity. Things here in Romania are polar opposite to how things were in Central America.  In Central America, the people are openly affectionate, kissing you on the cheek and hugging and smiling at you. The people here in Romania are more emotionally reserved, kinda like watermelons… hard and rough on the outside, but truly sweet on the inside. 🙂 In Central America, the weather was warm and humid… Here it is nice and cold; definitely a nice change. Speaking of change… I have a new team!

From left to right: Wes, me, Hosanna, Robin, Hugh, Jo Linda, and Jill.

Hugh is our team leader and is from Eustace, TX. He’s 24 years old and loves skateboarding. Wes is 21 years old and is from Atlanta, Georgia. He is obsessed with oreos. Jo Linda Sala is 34, from Colorado and loves sushi. My kind of girl! Jill is 24 years old and is from Portland, Oregon. She loves playing guitar and piano, particularly worship music. Robin is 23 years and is from North Carolina. She loves photography, singing and musicals. Hosanna is 21 years old, from Arizona and loves being random. These are definitely my kind of people!

Our team name is Meizon, pronounced like “made-zon,” which is the greek word for “greater.”  We chose this as our name because we feel God calling us to greater things…to do greater works, and to make Him greater in our lives.

I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done,
and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.
– John 14:12

My former team was like my training wheels so to speak… God taught me so much through them in the past three months. He used them to edify me in more ways than one, encouraged me to be the person God created me to be, and sharpen me and challenge me to walk in the inheritance God has for me. I am going to miss them, but I feel so much excitement for my new team and the things I am going to learn and gain from them. My last team helped me learn how to balance, and now it’s time I learn to ride without them. And I plan to pedal hard.
