It’s been a month.
I live in the Kalahari Desert, literally.
No additional housing structures besides our tents. We have a beautiful shade tree, a fire pit and a short drop. Goats and chicken as our neighbors and the oh-so casual donkey-pulled buggy rolls down the dirt paths around us. We bought and killed a goat last week for a source of meat and one of our sweet neighbors taught us how to bake bread over our fire pit.
Life doesn’t get any simpler than this, but it also doesn’t get any better!
Guys, I can’t say it loud enough!! My heart could not be anymore grateful or joyous.
I am in awe of the Lord everyday! I mean let’s be real, the Nanie that left the States seven months ago could barely be surviving in these current conditions. Haha! I live in the desert sands with scorpions and snakes, but more than ever I feel alive and thriving! This is not just circumstantial or that I have adjusted to minimalistic living, because you best believe I still pop out of my tent wearing my dresses and earrings. I still screech when big bugs get a little too close, and I don’t think I will ever get adjusted to squatting over a hole in the ground. But I do know that the Lord is letting the African air breathe restoration and healing into my soul. He is building up His daughter, laying a foundation of Himself beneath me that is going to carry me beyond just these desert sands.
Thank you for all the prayers and love! See y’all in two months!
Ps. I hope I can blog again, I can’t wait to share about our ministry here!

pps. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD! Love you!
