A couple of weeks ago during our ministry to a small village we had the opportunity to meet Amos and Monica and their three children. They immediately invited us into their house for a visit. After we introduced ourselves and told them a bit about what we were doing in their neighbourhood they shared with us that they believe in Jesus but are not born again, this is how Kenyan’s refer to being a Christian. Amos said that even though he wanted to he had things in his life that he was not ready to get rid of.
Sometimes I wonder if a lot of people feel this way. They believe in Jesus and God the Father but they are holding onto things of the world that they are not yet ready to part with. The thing about God and his love it that he loves us no matter what we do. There is nothing we can do that can make him love us any less than he does at this very moment. If you believe in Jesus and what he did for you on the cross by dying for your sin than there in nothing that should stop you from accepting the sacrifice that he gave for you.
After we talked to Amos and Monica some more and explained God’s love for them both of them decided to accept Jesus and his sacrifice for them. They confessed their sin and accepted God’s forgiveness. I know that this is the best decision that they could have made because making this decision for myself changed my life. I know that being a Christian doesn’t mean that all your problems disappear but it means that you have God to walk beside you each step of the way.
