Lilongwe, Malawi

Africa, oh Africa. It’s been a good two weeks since I stepped on African soil. It’s everything that I imagined. Dirt roads, a few trees, and the golden sun. It’s beautiful yet different. It’s uncomfortable but we are swarmed by people who love us so well and introduce their culture in exciting ways. We dance, we sing, & we walk for days. Taxis are men pulling a single person on a bicycle, buses to town include shoving 20 people in a van that is meant for 11, children are carrying even smaller children, and shampoo and conditioner is practically impossible to find. We wake up to MUCH MUCH cooler mornings than Asia (Yes, sweating is actually NOT normal), the closest place to buy essential foods is about 20 minute walk, or you can run into little children selling mangos at their house a couple doors down. In order to tell your family that you are alive, you need to drive to town for nearly 40 minutes & pay a ridiculous amount to use the internet (Thank God for unlimited free wifi’s at cafes in Asia & America).

Life is good because God is good. Through the uncomfortable season of leading a new team, a new continent, & the change of church lifestyle, God has been constantly reminding me that He is the Great I AM.

At LDW last month, my friend Kate did an activity with the Squad that I absolutely loved. We, as a group of four, had to name all the different Names of the Lord. This time ended up being a time of worship and declaring His power through His names. (if you have the time, please write it down or do it with your small group/community group) & one thing i’ve absolutely loved about the people that we’ve met here in Malawi is their reverence for the Lord. Each time we have service, home church, women’s/girls ministry they take a few minutes to be in awe of the Lord thanking Him and surrendering themselves to Him. They worship and pray. Children at the age of four bow down on their knees and you can hear their little voices lift His name on High.

It’s so easy to get caught up in a lifestyle of asking the Lord for things during prayer. I do it all the time. We ask and pray… but how often to we stand in awe of our Savior and our Lord Jesus Christ for all that he’s done? How often do we thank Him for the greatest gift in the world, our salvation? How often do we sit or stand in awe of the Godhead we come to listen about at church each and ever week.

I am praying that God will help me turn to Him. That YES He listens to all my needs, my deepest desires of my hearts, my pleas, and my struggles. BUT we need to only be still at times & remember WHO we are doing all things for.

Praise Report for 100 FGB
1. We are serving in a Christian Nation (YES, freedom to speak openly and pray openly is such a blessing.
2. We, as a team, have led nearly 8 people to the Lord. This team is BOLD & desire the people of Malawi to know Jesus in a real and personal way.
3.We have made an impossible list in the beginning of the month, we have already crossed out 2. PTL.
4.Nearly 5+ bibles were given out to those that gave their life to Jesus or people who wanted to learn more.

The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.

Things to be praying for
1. There is so much prosperity gospel that is taught in Africa
2. There is also much division amongst the different denomination
