The road to recovery is far from fun. God uses our physical pain and limitations to reveal his heart in our emotional and spiritual pain and limitations. Six weeks ago I badly pulled/tore a muscle in my left calf. I could barely walk at all, much less run. I had to rely on others for help, which I’m not good at. It was a truly humbling experience. I was leading this group. I had big plans to show them all I know about wholistic health. I had big plans to lead them on big adventures. I was gonna be a rockstar.
Turns out I’m prideful. Turns out there are still wounds from my past unhealth that wanted to show their ugly face. Turns out the Lord wanted me to lead people to healing by walking through some healing myself. Turns out, even though this is my third time on the World Race, I don’t have it all figured out. Turns out I actually am a mortal. Fun stuff!
Micah 6:8 “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
Today I am back to running. It has been a slow process, but I’m happy to report that I am able to run now without even a limp. Praise God! I may not be back to my former speed, but that really doesn’t matter. Honestly, some of my sweetest times with the Lord are while I’m outside running and praying. I’m glad he has given my those times back.
I am still going to model wholistic health for the squad. I am still going to take them on crazy adventures. I am still kinda a rockstar. I’m awesome, but not that awesome…but I am awesome. He gets all of the glory though. I don’t need it. All I have to do is be obedient, just, merciful, and walk/run humbly with my God.
As a squad leader I must raise $6,500 to cover expenses on the field and two debriefs later in the year after I have returned home. I am about halfway there!! A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me!!! I would be honored if you would pray about supporting me financially. There is a link to my support account at the top of this page. There are options for one time donations or monthly recurring donations. All donations to this account are tax deductible in the United States. As always I would appreciate your prayers for myself and for Y Squad as we take this journey this year. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. Love Y’all!!!
