My Fun Week With The Holy Spirit
It has been a really Amazing week. I spent almost the entire weekend at my church in prayer and worship. Our Sunday worship service turned into a giant dance party. I got a job without even applying for it. And, I got the chance to share some testimony with a group of teenage boys in an adolescent rehab facility. God has really made Himself known in all of these things.
So, my church does this thing called 24+ Hours Of Prayer. I started off with a Live Worship and Prayer Service, which was Awesome. Directly after that we had three hours of Throwdown. Throwdown is something we do where we turn off all of the lights in the church and play a worship playlist over the speakers. Everybody worships and dances freely without having to worry about other people watching them. I had no idea who was even in the room. It was exhausting. When that was over, the college kids had prayer time and I went back into the offices where we had five tents set up for people to spend personal time with God. I prayed for about a half hour and passed out. When I woke up at 6am, there was a girl on stage in the sanctuary playing guitar and singing worship songs. Wow, it was Beautiful. Great way to start off a Saturday! More prayer and worship ensued the rest of that day and into the night (there was a shower and a meal thrown in there too). Midnight started a worship and prayer service, called Ignite, we do every other Saturday night. It lasts til 6am and we focus on praying for our church and our city. All in all, it was a great way to spend 36 hours (with very little sleep and very little food).
All weekend long some of us prayed that the Holy Spirit would light a fire in the hearts of our congregation. We asked Him to make our Sunday morning worship service special. He was definitely on the same page. Our service every weeks starts off with worship time. People really seemed to be getting into it even more than usual. After worship is a time for testimonies and a break to get coffee and have some fellowship. After the break is the talk. The talk was on King David dancing for God. It was focused on how much God was pleased with David for letting go and worshipping and with how David's wife rejected him for doing that. Basically the pastor was talking about how much God loves it when we stop worrying about what others think of us and worship Him with everything we have. He was also saying that it should be part of our worship not to judge others when they let loose for God. When the talk was over, we went back into worship time. The whole church exploded in singing and dancing and clapping and cheering. I was like a rave for Jesus. Words can't describe how fun it was. There is no doubt that the Holy Spirit was there and He heard our prayer.
I have recently been starting to apply for some jobs and praying for God to help me find a job where i could make some money while still having the freedom to do the things I'm going to need to do to prepare for the World Race. I thought I had found the perfect job working at my favorite coffee shop (Bold Bean Coffee Roasters), but they needed me to work Sunday mornings and it was nonnegotiable. Not going to church was not an option for me, so I had to turn the job down. After that I continued to pray about it, but nothing had really come up, so I stopped stressing about it and went on with my life. During that Amazing church service Sunday morning, a friend of mine asked me if I had found a job yet. I had not, so he asked me if I wanted to work for him. I was definitely not expecting this, but of course I accepted. I am working with guys I go to church with as a subcontractor, so I have the freedom I need to prepare for the Race. God is faithful.
The last thing I want to share about this incredible week is my experience at the adolescent rehab facility. A couple weeks ago I was asked to speak at a meeting at this facility and share my story. I have never really been comfortable speaking in front of people, but I agreed to do it. I was a little worried about it because I couldn't imagine a scenario where a bunch of teenage boys would care about what I had to say. All of these kids are being forced to be in this facility either by their parents or by the courts. In my experience, when people (especially kids) are forced to do something, they really aren't into it. I prayed before I started talking and the words just came flowing out. The kids were really into it. They all seemed to be paying attention and they even asked a bunch of questions. It was a really cool experience. I will end here because I know this is already a lot longer than it should be. Thanks for reading my Blog. Love Y'all!!!
