IT’S OFFICIAL!!!!! In September of 2018, I will be going on a nine month missions trip to Swaziland, India, Nepal and Guatemala!!! I will be alongside a squad of around 50 people, as well as multiple experienced leaders who will guide us.
About a year ago, the World Race Gap Year was introduced to me by my boyfriend and his mom, which was an answer to prayer as I was asking God for His leading as to what my call to missions specifically looks like. I fell in love the instant I heard about this trip, but my heart was hardened to it simply because a gap year wasn’t in my imagined timeline for my life. It has always been my heart’s desire to do missions, but I never thought of doing a gap year. Regardless, God continued to tug on my heart and place the World Race in my heart.
It took a LONG time for me to open up to the idea of a gap year. God worked on me a lot this past year…there were many times where I would just be bawling because I was so torn over this decision on the inside. Yet, I knew in my heart that this was God’s desire for my next step in life; there was just something about the surrender of this trip(living out of a backpack!!!!) that intrigued me. Once I accepted that and allowed God to soften my heart, I was at such peace!
I am so EXCITED for this opportunity to serve God! I know that it will be a time of immense growth and learning. I’m stoked to live out the Great Commission as told in Matthew 28:19, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”.
Your prayers and support for both me and my team are greatly appreciated!! I can’t wait to share with you everything that God does throughout this journey! If you’d like to get updates when I post, please subscribe to my blog!
Blessings,
Mykayla
