So much to say and so little time! The reason for my lack of
blogging is summed up in this simple story:
“Finally! Time to blog”, I said to myself. I got comfy in my
room and opened my computer. Not a minute went by when my friend Anton walked
by, saw me, and said, “we are in freaking Guatemala! Get up lets go do
something.”
Seriously? There is always something going on, always
something to be done or seen. We are in Guatemala and I don’t want to miss a
thing.
This past month has been breathtaking.
From little faces

to
magnificent sunrises the Lord’s glory is here

What have I been doing?
My team and I have been traveling/living about an hour and a
half away from our squad (the big group).
We have gotten to:
-meet and work alongside an amazing family, the Yorks.
-teach English in a spanish school for 2 weeks
-plant a hundred trees to prevent a mudslide
-paint and paint more
-get to dive into intentional relationships with each other
to do ministry well
-lots of feedback (each day our teams meet to talk about
what went on that day, encourage one another and call each other up to
greatness)
-prepare and cook each meal on an open stove
-squat in a squatting potty to use the bathroom
-pray for one another along with people we meet whether it
is a drunk guy passed out in the middle of the road or a man who has walked on
crutches for the past 3 years due to an injured leg.
Beyond ministry I have also gotten to do some “once in a
lifetime” things like:
-climb an active volcano(we roasted marshmallows from the
heat of the lava)
-climb up a mountain to see the most beautiful sunrise over
lake Atitlan.
-Drive a tuk tuk (local small cab cars)
-Wash my hair in a Guatemalan river
-Eat gringas (mystery meat wrapped in tortillas)
-run up a hill to a cross looking out over the city of
Antigua (I got to pray and declare things over the city as well as worship the
Lord and declare truth over my life)
-sit on tops of roofs and worship the Lord or have amazing
Jesus convos where He speaks and shows His love for us by clearing the sky so
we can see His stars.
-wake up to 70+ mayan women in our “living room”.
– 6am wake up call to 4 men using our elevation and
electricity to make an announcement to the entire Patzibal village over a very
loud PA system (one of my favorite memories- we laughed so hard)
I am sure there are other things I am forgetting, it
has been a whole month. I know right? A month! That means I only have 10 left…
wow. I am no longer anticipating the World Race but am “on the field”. When did
this happen?!
God is sooo good. The overall theme of this month for me was
the nature of being. The Lord really
revealed to me how much I do do do and don’t just simply be. From being who He
created me to be to being fully
present in each moment the word on His lips to me is be.
Moriah you’re enough
Moriah you’re mine
Moriah I created you perfectly
Moriah be still and know who I am
Moriah I love you
Moriah I am all you need
These truths allow me to walk in my be-ness 🙂. I have been released
from performance, people pleasing, approval from others and expectations. Ahhh
and what a release it has been.
I really challenge you to ask the Lord what it looks like
for you to just be. Ask Him how you can walk more fully in who He created you
to be. You see if we are performing or constantly trying to win the approval of
man we will miss it. We miss the ministry He is doing and we do the ministry we
think we need to do. I don’t know
about you but I want to be one who goes where He is going, doing and
ministering. True transformation happens where He is at.
