“Jesuuuuuuus. I want to see the dead raised, the mute talk,
the deaf hear, the blind see, the lame walk…”

“Sweet one, physical healing is good but spiritual healing is
so much better. You are seeing it. Put your spiritual eyes on… I am doing it.”

Dead: Sometimes
we go through the motions of this life just getting by or “surviving”. But really
we aren’t fully living… we are merely dead men walking. Dreams are dead.
Passion dies. Excitement deteriorates. Our life ferments and smells…we reek.
Everyone can smell it yet we try to cover it up with fragrances of “I’m good”
and “everything is ok”. No amount of makeup a mortician puts on a dead person
will make the person look alive, but we sure try with our caked on masks. We
suck life from others with our negativity and our stinky attitudes. No one
wants to be around our lifeless selves…not even ourselves.

Lord raise us from
the dead.

Mute: We often
want to say something we feel the Lord is telling us but we are muted by what
we think people will say or do. We shut up because last time they didn’t take
it so well. Maybe no one will listen. Maybe it isn’t from God. Maybe my voice
doesn’t matter. We have things to say but hold back because of fear and lies.

Lord open our mouths
to speak what you are saying.

Deaf: Is anyone
home? In one ear and out the other. We pretend we don’t hear. We push out the
conviction sometimes labeling it as condemnation and commanding it to go. The
Lord tells us to do something but we have better things to do. We have to go
here, we need to get this done etc. We distract ourselves from what He is
saying by reading the bible, listening to a sermon, going to church, having a
Christian convo etc. When all He wants us to do is sit and listen to Him…

Lord give us ears to
hear you.

Blind: They
aren’t there. They don’t really need help. They spend their money on drugs so I
can’t give them anything. Everyone is doing great. They have it together. We
close our eyes to the pain in this world. To the co-worker who in appearance
and stature is fine but lacks a smile today. We don’t want to take the time to
ask because maybe it will be too much or take too long. We want to stay in our
bubble of “I’m good today” and not be bothered by the world and its problems
because God forbid they pop our “good day”. We avoid people at church because
“they talk too much”, “they have too many problems” etc. We don’t see how
looking down on someone is actually looking down on the Lord’s creation as if
He made a mistake… Because someone is a different color, dirty, poor, weird,
“requires more grace”, has a bunch of problems, socially awkward etc. we see
them as less…less than us.

Lord open our eyes to
see people as you see them.

Lame: Maybe the
worst of them all. We are alive yet don’t move. We know the truth yet it
doesn’t set us free. We have passion but don’t express it. We have dreams but
never go after them. He speaks but we don’t move. He says go and we stay. We
have joy but it isn’t enjoyed. We have faith but it doesn’t move mountains. We
have love but never give it. We sit on what we know never taking a stand for
what we believe. Although we wouldn’t tell anyone… we are ok with being ok. We
don’t want anything to rock the boat. We want to stay safe and sound in our
comfort of lameness never daring to walk. We are content with knowing
what we know and doing what we have always done.

Lord help us take up
our mat and walk.

Dang huh?

Have you ever found yourself dead to things, muted, selecting
your hearing, seeing what you want to see or doing what you want to do? I know
I have. But all around me the Lord is healing us from these ailments. He is
bringing us into abundant life, to powerful voices proclaiming His words, to
intently listening to Him, to seeing with spiritual eyes, to not just walking but
running in faith.

“I see it now Lord! You are really doing it! The dead are
being raised, the mute are speaking up, the deaf are hearing from you, the
blind eyes are opening, the lame are so totally walking! Thank you Jesus for
answering my prayer.”

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen,
but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is
eternal.
