Hello! We’ve been in Costa Rica for about 3 weeks now. We are staying just outside of San Jose and it is BEAUTIFUL! I didn’t realize the spiritual warfare in Asia until we left. It’s been so nice to be surrounded by so much freshness and life!
My team and I were in Puerto Viejo on the coast for 10 days working with a YWAM base and a Teen Challenge program. We mainly did evangelism and witnessed the coolest things! My favorite story is about a Christian lady we met. She cannot read or write but knows Christ as her Savior! Hallelujah! We prayed with her and she broke down into tears and then explained how her children have gone down the wrong path and are living on the streets dependent on drugs. Presley, one of my teammates, felt it on her heart to wash this woman’s feet. At first she refused and then she finally agreed. Presley, myself, 2 other teammates and our 2 translators all took turns washing her feet. We also read scripture to her because she can’t read. I read John 13 where Jesus washed his disciples feet and explained how it is such an act of humility and love and how once we are already baptized we only need our feet washed because they get dirty (we sin) everyday. We also read Colossians 3. It was super cool because while she was already a Christian, she was living alone and can’t read the Bible. God used us to encourage her and she did the same for us.
My squad and I are about to head to our mid-point debrief to process a lot of what has happened the last 4 months and to prepare for the last half! Pray for vulnerability, healing, changed perspectives, energy and more as we head into the last half of this journey.
Thank you for your constant prayers and support and happy new year!!
