Costa Rica was beautiful and refreshing, but simultaneously extremely boring. i can’t even begin to count the amount of times I said “I’m bored” the last month we were there. I became very complacent and was just ready for change. Our last few days in Costa Rica were spent at an “Awakening” which is where other squads with AIM are all in the same country and meet up to encourage and get to know each other. During one of the sessions there I quickly realized that I am horrible at being still. It’s extremely hard for me to rest and even harder for me to just be. Once we got to Ecuador, we went to this place called Dunamis which will soon be a home for girls coming out of sex trafficking. We have spent nearly the past month helping out around the property doing various things to get it ready for the girls to come. We are up on a mountain, have a lot of land around us and are basically secluded for the weekdays. We’ve done pretty extensive manual labor for the past month so I have not been physically rested but I think I’ve grasped the concept of resting in the Lord. Hebrews 4 is the only part in the New Testament that uses the word “strive.” Rest is literally the only thing we are to strive for. A super cool lesson to learn in the prettiest place!
