So yesterday I decided to do a thing. I decided to get my second tattoo: a world map! This is probably one of the most spontaneous things I have done in my life.
Throughout the last few months, I had made the decision to get a map, but I couldn’t decide on placement. I spent the last couple of months switching the location of where I wanted to get it. When we got to Penang, I knew it was time. I had picked my location shortly after debrief, but I needed to find a shop to go to. Once I found a shop, I was quick to figure out when I could go get it done.
Yesterday afternoon, I ventured to the tattoo shop with a couple friends and away we went.
So why did I get a map?
An obvious answer would be the fact that I’m traveling the world. And that’s part of it!
But there is a little more to it than that. Having been to multiple continents and half a dozen countries, I’ve seen God’s grace in so many different ways, in so many different places. I’ve seen God’s plan for redemption all over the place. I’ve become friends with other believers, I’ve become friends with people who have different beliefs than me, for months, I was one of the only people in a town with my specific skin color.
His desire for redemption overflows everywhere we look. He loves all of us so deeply, every single person on the planet, not just a specific people group. Christ died to save EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON. So we can be back in communion with the Father.
So why do I have a map? Because redemption is pretty darn cool.
