No matter where we are we won’t stop singing, with every breath in our lungs we’ll shout it out, no matter where we are we won’t stop singing that You are Lord –Weapons
I’ve now spent time in 12 different countries this year, on 4 different continents. I’ve hiked multiple mountains and stuck my toes in countless oceans. I spent a month in the driest desert on earth and stood at the beginning of the Amazon Jungle. I’ve slept on floors of churches and in comfy bedrooms. I took bucket showers with well water and had hot, running water. I’ve cooked for myself and had some of the most incredible food prepared for me. Sometimes it took mere hours to arrive in our next country and other times it took four days and countless buses or planes.
When I was getting ready to leave for the World Race, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I had watched a ton of vlogs about the Race, but that really doesn’t give you the greatest picture because that isn’t what you personally will live out. I knew I would be spending the year telling people about Jesus, but I had no idea of what that would include.
I had no idea that I would be doing children’s ministry and preaching for the first three months of the Race. I had no idea that door-to-door evangelism would be a regular occurrence in West Africa. I had no idea that I would be doing three months of ATL in the middle of my Race. I had no idea that I would have hosts from the US three different times throughout the year. I had no idea that I would completely fall in love with South America, and that I would struggle to want to leave because of my love for it. I had no idea that I would learn enough Spanish to be able to get by and be a little conversational.
I knew that I would desire to continue to declare the words of the song above over and over and over again, but I didn’t realize just how true it would be throughout the entire world. No matter where I am in this world, whether in the United States, Ghana, the Philippines, Chile or somewhere else, every bit of me will declare that Jesus is Lord. Just because I am going home from this wild year of travel doesn’t mean that I have to stop telling people about the love of Jesus and the grace of God. No matter what I am doing whether working at a coffee shop or walking through the grocery store, I want every action of mine to radiate the goodness of God.
I’ll be in Ohio at the end of the week. I still can’t believe it’s real. This has been the fastest and slowest, coolest but hardest year of my life and I wouldn’t change it for anything.
(As a side note, the music video for Weapons was filmed at my World Race Training Camp in October 2018. You’ll see a whole lot of R-Squad throughout the video!)
