We’re gonna do something a little different for this blog. I’m coming up on the end of eleven months of this wild journey. Throughout the year, there have been tons of songs and passages of Scripture that have influenced my journey, so I wanted to share a few of those with you. There will be links attached to all of the songs for your listening pleasure. Enjoy!
Throughout my time in West Africa, we were unable to show any tattoos because of cultural beliefs. Unfortunately, I had just gotten a tattoo a few weeks before launching for the Race. My first tattoo is the words “So Will I” after the song by UNITED. I want my life to be a picture of the gospel and what is described in the song.
So Will I – Hillsong UNITED
Another song that I listened to a lot Month 1 is the following. Going on the World Race took a huge step of boldness and this song really speaks into that.
Greater Things – Mack Brock
These three were released during Month 1 of the Race, and I heard them for the first time at our Month 1 Debrief in Ghana. They all speak to the grace of God.
As You Find Me – Hillsong UNITED
Whole Heart – Hillsong UNITED
Good Grace – Hillsong UNITED
Beginning in our first Debrief, but mostly in Month 3, God began to show me what it looks like to find my identity, worth and value in Him rather than in those around me.
Psalm 139
You Say – Lauren Daigle
139 – Kings Kaleidoscope
A few months into the Race, UNITED released a new album, PEOPLE, and there are a few songs that have meant a lot throughout the duration of the Race.
Another in the Fire – Hillsong UNITED
Clean – Hillsong UNITED
Highlands – Hillsong UNITED
Throughout our time in Argentina, I struggled hard with not being able to communicate (I still struggle because I’m by no means even fluent in Spanish, but I’m a lot better than I was). When we arrived in Chile, I started listening to worship music in Spanish to help me learn the language. Check out the Spanish versions on my Spotify Playlist. For each of the songs, the first one listed is the English version, and then the second one listed is the Spanish version. For the first song listed, I had an awesome moment in Chile, which you can read about in my blog, The Promise of Eternity. I don’t know if I ever shared the story of the second one. When we first stepped off the bus in Antofagasta, Chile, we went straight to their youth and young adult group at church. Part of the evening was spent in worship, and we sang that song. A few of us sang in English and the rest in Spanish.
Hosanna – Hillsong UNITED
Hosanna – Hillsong en Español
This is Amazing Grace – Phil Wickham
Gracia Sublime Es – En Espíritu Y En Verdad
Throughout the week after Brushed with Glory had been deported, we spent time praying into where to go next as a team. Throughout my time, God brought up this song more than once. You can also check this one out on Spotify.
All I Need is You – Hillsong UNITED
