Month 10 was a new definition of wild. Spent part of it in Chile, part of it in Peru, and none of it in Bolivia, where we were supposed to be for the month.

Here are the highlights from one of the more unexpected months of the World Race:

  1. We got deported from Bolivia.
  2. We tried to get visas from the Bolivian Consulate three different times in Calama, Chile.
  3. We had our Month 9 hosts from Antofagasta check to see if we could get visas from the Bolivian Consulate in Antofagasta.
  4. We stayed in Calama for a week before praying through our options, which took us to Cusco, Peru.
  5. The team did a food outreach called Food from M’Dude (being Jesus), where we cooked and then passed out hot meals to the homeless in the center of Cusco. (Check out Katie’s blog to learn more about what we did.)
  6. I got to have an awesome conversation about Jesus in Starbucks on our first day in Cusco.
  7. Spent about a week and a half working with World Race hosts, Tim and Holly, just outside of Cusco.
  8. Did a few days of construction, the first day with the whole team and then other days with just a few people.
  9. Spent a day with Marilyn at the Josephine House, which is a children’s home full of kiddos under the age of three.
  10. Learned a whole lot about the Enneagram during our time with Tim and Holly. In case you were wondering, I’m 100% a 2.
  11. My phone didn’t work for most of our time in Cusco. God taught me a whole bunch of things while I didn’t have a phone (Check out my blog about what I learned).
  12. I got my first migraine in almost three years while in Cusco. The weather was so beautiful that I didn’t think I needed as much water as I actually do. Everything is fine.
  13. Ate at Chili’s a few times (anything from the States is a little too exciting with less than 40 days on the field).
  14. Had a night of communion and worship as a team with Tim and Holly before heading back into town.
  15. Spent a whole lot of time reading actual paper books, which has been such a blessing after not carrying them for 10 months.

R-Squad is getting ready to head into MONTH 11! How in the world is this journey almost over? It’s truly been a wild year. More coming at you soon about our time in Ecuador working with Cru!
