A few years back when I was in college, I was at a winter conference for a Christian organization called Destino. It was primarily for the Hispanic culture, but I felt that the Lord was calling me there. I was shut out by a lot of the people I thought were my friends from another Christian organization, and I honestly felt alone. But I was obedient to the call the Lord put on my heart and I moved organizations. While at this conference, I knew the Lord was stirring something in me, but I wasn’t quite sure what it would be.
The night came when Destino asked for people to prayerfully consider what they would be willing to give back to the organization to continue to spread the gospel to others who had yet to know Jesus. I was only in the organization for about 2 months, and I hadn’t really had a life-altering moment there, but I knew this is what the Lord was preparing me for. I prayed, “Lord, what amount do you want me to give back to you?” The speaker spouted off numbers such as $10, or $20 for students, and asked larger amounts up to $500 and $1000 from couples or other companies that were represented. But in my heart, I knew He was saying $300.
I hadn’t been titheing for a long time, and I knew it. I asked again, “Surely, Lord, you know what I have, and you know where I stand, are you asking $20 from me, $30 even?” But again, I heard him say $300, and I began to weep. At that MOMENT, I knew that being able to follow Christ whole-heartedly meant that I would have to lay my finances down at His feet, for Him to be able to do what He needed to.
That moment lead to MOMENTUM in my faith. I was having a deeper connection with the Lord, I was on the way to obedience, and in that I was eventually lead to The World Race. It is here that I have hit a MIRACLE. A miracle because what started off as me being obedient in one aspect of my life, has lead to many others being obedient and helping me! The Lord taught me that when I handed my life over to Him, He provided everything that I needed. This race that I am embarking on next year, is one that I need to raise $18,200 for, to be able to launch in 6 days. Of that amount, I currently am only needing $1,300, praise be to the one true provider, Jesus!
