My name is Morgan Penshorn! I grew up in a small town called Marion, TX that had a population of 1,099 for the longest time!! I studied at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) for 2 years before I went to nursing school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. After 2 years of being in nursing school, the Lord called me out of that season and back to UTSA without finishing the degree. Another 2 years later, I finished with a degree in Community Health and was able to graduate this May 12, 2018.
I was able to go on a mission trip to Vietnam during Spring Break of 2017 where I found my calling to love on children. I spent an entire week submerged in the culture of Vietnam and was in absolute heaven! Vietnam holds a very special place in my heart because this is the location where the Lord told prompted me to give my life to mission overseas and to the Children’s Ministry. MY! What a journey is has been since then!
I have been a member of Compass Church since March 2017. I started volunteering in their children’s ministry within the first 2 months that I was there! Stepping into this position as the 2nd and 3rd grade teacher has confirmed the love and joy that I have for children and the happiness that I get from them! At the beginning of 2018, I accepted the position as Children’s Ministry Intern and have continued to serve in the 2nd and 3rd grade classroom. This has been a launching season for me because through Compass Church I was able to learn about opportunities to serve surrounding areas and have found my passion the Lord has set in me. I will be serving this summer in 2 different church camps where I will guide children in finding the love of the Lord and His many treasures.
I heard about The World Race from my pastor at Compass Church. We were on our way back from visiting a potential camp site for one of the summer camps I will be a part of when I asked him a question, “Do you think missionaries overseas need to go through seminary school in order to minister to people properly?” He reassured me that missionaries do not need to go through seminary school and questioned what it was that I wanted to do as a missionary. After explaining what I had interpreted from the Lord, his one comment that stuck with me was about The World Race. He told me that he personally knew 2 people who had done this 11 month journey and who found their path at the end of the trip. I was so excited about this potential option because it lined up perfectly with what the Lord had called me to previously. After a whole day of researching what this 11 countries in 11 months program was, I was in absolute tears of joy and peace about the next step in faith I was about to take. After 2 months of an interview process, what seemed like years, I was finally accepted into the program!
The World Race is an 11 month long Christian mission trip that allows the participants to travel to 11 different countries. Some things that teams in the past have done during their trip is partner with churches and ministries in the local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in human trafficking, and bring restorative hope of the Father’s love.
I will be joining the Route 2 group, who will be traveling to the countries of Cote d-Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia and Peru. This specific route was chosen because I will be able to experience 3 continents worth of culture, as well as a lot of diversity within the continents.
I am so excited about this opportunity the Lord has blessed me with, and I pray that He paves the way before me to make the most impact on the people that I will come in contact with. Please pray for me as I meet with and bring on financial supporters, as that is one of the biggest needs that I have at this time. If you, or someone you know is interested in donating towards this mission, please email me at [email protected] so I can get your information to keep in contact with you. If you cannot financially support me at this time but would like to be on my prayer team, send me an email so I can update you with prayer request. As my team and I engage in advancing the gospel around the world, we will face spiritual warfare like we have never faced before. We are in desperate need of a team of people who will cover us in prayer daily.
Each and every person reading this blog has an integral part in this mission I will be starting in January of 2019. So thank you for listening to the call the Lord has put on your heart and I’m so thankful that you and I have crossed paths. I pray that the Lord would equip you as you join me in this journey and that He would bless you for your generous blessings that you have given me and my team. May your days to come be full of joy and tremendous peace as you decide how you would like to support me. I love and appreciate each and every one of you. Much love!!
XOXO
