Well, we are officially wrapping up our time in Cambodia. This has been my absolute favorite month and place by far on the World Race. The countryside and scenery is beautiful, the people are beautiful and so charming, and the orphanage where we were staying this month completely stole my heart. I fell in love with every single child there, and saying goodbye to them felt like I was leaving behind a piece of myself, which in reality is an answered prayer. I am thankful that the Lord gave me a tender heart and His love for orphans this month.
But still, it hurts. Going through a season of brokenness and deep sadness is what brings us closer to the Lord; what helps us experience His supernatural peace and nearness. I’d love to return to the orphanage someday soon, Lord willing, but if not – I know I will see each of their faces in the throneroom of heaven someday! We will be able to celebrate together for all eternity! What a sweet reminder.
I ask that my friends and family back home come alongside me in prayer. My prayer is that I will not become callused towards poverty, hardship, and forming relationships. I pray that I do not develop a defense mechanism to protect myself from getting hurt by all of the things I see and experience while living life overseas.
Tomorrow is our last full day in Cambodia, and soon we will head to Vietnam! We just spent the last few days doing a debrief with the entire squad together, along with our staff who flew in from the States. It’s been a great time of rest, catching up, and celebration.
Also – I HAVE A NEW TEAM!!! After spending the last 4 months with my precious team “Live Boldly”, we just went through team changes and our entire squad got assigned to new teams. I am on a team with five other girls, and our team name is “Bloom” – something God revealed to us through prayer and sharing with one another. My team is a group of girls with quiet strength, beauty and steadfastness, and a fierceness and power. An exquisite, unique garden of flowers at the peak of their beauty 🙂 I am so excited!!!
Thanks for reading, and don’t forget to support my squadmates who aren’t yet fully funded!
