John 13:34-35

“So now I am giving you a new commandment: LOVE each other. Just as I have LOVED you, you should LOVE each other. Your LOVE for one another will prove tot he world that you are my disciples.”

“LOVE others as I have LOVED you” Those words hit me hard every time I read them. You see it is such a small verse but wow there is so much depth to it. Those words have been placed on my heart with PURPOSE and COURAGE. I can remember sitting on the porch of the Paradise Bound base in Guatemala on the day we dedicated the houses we built and gave the villagers the opportunity to accept Jesus into their hearts (also, my birthday, yup, mom your not going to be able to top the one. Talk about the BEST B-DAY EVER!). I was praying while watching the sunrise come up over Volcano Agua. In that moment I was specifically asking the Lord to lead me to something bigger, to really reveal where He was calling me and what that might look like. I felt His presence in a way I never had before, it entered into my heart like an overwhelming sense of peace it told me to BE STILL.

Looking back, I imagine God laughing up in Heaven being like, “Morg, you have absolutely know idea how much I am going to change your heart and open your eyes so that you can fully see me and clearly hear my voice today”. That was the day I wholeheartedly knew that this was just the beginning of the Lords will for my life. I understood that God had called me to trade my comfort for uncomfortable and trade the easy for something that in its own way can be hard. He has called me to LOVE OTHERS. LOVE OTHERS by being His hands and feet. He showed me that loving others might be sometimes hard but wow it is so beyond worth it. I feel like loving others pushes you and grows you. It helps you see the bigger picture of the what/who the body of Christ is and looks like. Loving others gives a glimpse into the Father and His heart. The Lord has given me this amazing opportunity to go out into His world and do what I love most, LOVE on HIS people. I look at that as one of the biggest blessings. Loving others even when its hard helps you really understand how to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Love past the failures of yourself and others. Loving others releases the chains and gives freedom. It helps purpose fill the eyes of the ones who feel so unworthy. Loving others can lead to some of the most amazing unexpected things. Today I encourage you to LOVE deep, just as Jesus LOVES you. Be a Motel 6 and “leave the light on for your people”.
