All right here it goes, it’s time for the hard part. The part I’ve been dreading… fundraising. Some people refer to this as FUNdraising and I would have to strongly disagree. This is the area in which God is stretching me the most. I do not like asking for money, I feel awkward being “this person”, and I’m not a fan of being this vulnerable. But here I am, with my pride left at the door, humbly asking for help.
I have not been looking forward to writing this post. However, through prayer and studying the Bible, I’ve come to realize that that the point of fundraising is not simply for the obvious flights and food. It is a way to build a backing of supporters who are saying, through financial contribution, that they support me and believe in what I’m going to do. It is a way for people to connect and be the body of Christ. In asking for this financial support I am inviting you to become a member of my team. God called me to do this and I know He will make a way.
Because asking for money is so far out of my comfort zone, I have been busy making bracelets (or keychains for the men out there). In return for your support, I would love to give you one. I am not putting a price on them, whatever you can give in support is an amazing blessing. The washer has the word “GO” stamped into it. This is symbolizing the great commission, “therefore GO and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…” Matthew 28:19.
