Yesterday we said some of the hardest goodbyes on the Race as we hugged, cried and sent 26 beautiful kids off to school before loading ourselves on to a tap-tap to start the second to last travel day on this journey. Our time at the orphanage in Haiti was wonderful and every child sent us off with prayers and notes, reminding us just how much Jesus loves us. Funny, that we came to share His love and light and in turn we’re immeasurably blessed with seeing His light in the hearts of these kids. We serve a Good Father!

Our travel consisted of a 7 hour, bumpy bus ride from Port-au-Prince to Santo Domingo, a cab ride to an ATM, 2 hour bus ride to La Vega and then a pick-up by our host, who treated to a pizza dinner and introduced us to “home” for the next 23 days. The word “blessing” has changed over the last 10 months and I was close to joyful tears when we were led to rooms with beds and bathrooms with running water!

We have our orientation today to learn more about what our team will be doing this month. From construction on a new high school for this community to assisting with a team of optometrists with eye exams, the work we’ll be doing has some awesome potential. Looking forward to all God has for us here in the Dominican!
