- Entire squad stayed at a hostel together in Chiang Mai.
- Our team worked at a construction site all month, helping further the process of building an English school that will open in January.
- We ventured out into the streets a couple of times to do late night bar ministry and love on the ladies working in the discreet, yet very dark business that plagues the country (RLD). Another team had this ministry full time throughout the month.
- We visited a natural park called Sticky Falls, where the limestone allows you to climb the waterfalls barefoot without any equipment!
- The very large and popular Night Bazaar market is where we spent evenings to eat authentic Thai quinine and browse the wide array of merchandise.
- I had Pad Thai and Thai tea as a meal quite often.
- We participated in “Monk Chat” at one of the local temples, which is a great opportunity to sit with the monks and converse about life.
- On evenings where certain teams went out to witness at the bars, other teams stayed back to intercede on their behalf, spending the entire night in prayer and worship to empower those who were walking the streets.
- I’ve had more mango in the past two months than I have my whole life. No complaints.
- We fed, bathed, and played with elephants at a local sanctuary!
- Chang Mai’s coffee game is very strong.
- People on my squad wanted to learn about American History from me which made me feel very loved! 🙂
- Morgee-town, Morg, Morgo, Momo, Mango — things that other people call me.
- We spent Thanksgiving day at an annual Lantern Festival. Our hostel hosts kept expressing how lucky we were to “just so happen to be” in Chiang Mai during the month of this festival, since people travel from all over the world just to see it once.
- We had a real Thanksgiving dinner with the entire squad at an American restaurant in the city. Turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie, everything!!
- A group of us took a weekend to camp in the mountains, exploring the national park of Doi Inthanon. We slept in hammocks, hiked through the jungle, saw a view above the clouds, and were driven around by a man who barely spoke English haha. It was very restful.
- I had the chance to connect and get to know the hearts of SEVERAL different people on my squad who I don’t normally get to see because they aren’t on my team. I truly love sitting with them and getting deep. Everyone just loves on each other so well. We have a great community.
- Explored a piece of the city on my own one day!
- Accidentally gave a 15 min lecture on the 1960s to a group of 8 squadmates during a taxi ride home.
- I went to a certain cafe that let me play with a hedgehog whilst eating a waffle… extremely random and very fun.
- People showered me in love on my birthday, taking me on coffee or lunch dates, giving me American flag gifts, etc. 23 is going to be a good year.
- Although we had less personal relationships with the locals than what we did in the Philippines, we got to see God move in our short interactions / the ministries that we were stationed at. People on our squad saw others become physically healed, have spiritual breakthroughs, etc.
- We found an awesome rooftop restaurant to enjoy the sunset during debrief in Bangkok.
- Continued to sweat through all of my clothing when we were doing construction or while we were out and about in town.
- I drank earl grey tea for the first time since leaving and almost cried. Found a couple boxes at a super fancy grocery store, so now I can take it with me.
- Little boy in orange beanie at the temple in the mountains was one of my favorite moments / pictures / videos that I walked away with.
- Had dinner with my teammate Madison and two Thai women, one of which was a Bhuddist nun.
- Watched a big chunk of the Roosevelt documentary on Netflix. Decided to start studying WWII and FDR for the next couple months. Later I’m gonna focus on the Civil War and Lincoln.
- Stayed in contact with Grace from the Philippines and continued to use her bible all month.
- The Lord kept reminding me of my passions and started to connect some dots for the future. I think He wants me based in the U.S. long term, possibly putting my love for American history/government to action while furthering the Kingdom in those places. More to come later…
