I made another video! This time, it’s a few clips put together from the 10 days I spent in the mountains doing ministry with an organization called “Dunamis.” It’s an organization that works to help rescue girls from sex trafficking. The girls live on this property and the staff teaches them life skills and trades that will allow the girls to find another job to support themselves without falling back into the sex trafficking industry. So, while staying there we helped with the construction of a new guesthouse on their property. It’s still at the foundations. So we made cement, poured it into buckets, carried those buckets, passed them off to someone on a ladder to pour into a rebar & wood column to make concrete posts. We make it fun though! And, it was a nice little workout! I honestly really enjoyed this type of ministry because you can see the fruit of your labor actually resulting in something. I loved being able to see the progress we made every day and knowing that it helps Dunamis, because I think what their ministry stands for is awesome. But that’s not all we did! Most mornings we would go into the community and spend time with the kids. A couple of us would walk through the neighborhood and knock on doors and ask if they had kids that wanted to come play. Then, we’d spend 3 hours playing soccer in the street with the boys or teaching and learning new dances from the girls. I absolutely loved my time in the mountains with Dunamis!!
We also put our tents to good use! In the mornings when we woke up, we were greeted with an amazing view of the mountains around us, full circle. Then by about 2:00 in the afternoon, the clouds rolled in and we were surrounded by fog because we were so high up (10,800 ft!!). In the morning, we were getting sunburns on our cheeks and by the evening, we were bundling up in our sweaters and sleeping bags. It’s amazing in the mountains. It’s hot, cold, sunny, cloudy, and overall beautiful. I love it!!
