Dear Family and Friends,
A lot has changed since the last letter I sent you all. I went to training camp for my trip in July and ended up breaking my leg during it. It was raining one of the days at camp and I was running down a hill, and pretty much ended up falling and snapping my leg in half. It has been a painful and slow process of healing but I have learned so much since that day. One of the coolest things I have experienced in my life was how many people came around me and started praying and singing over me immediately after I did it. Surprisingly, I was very calm when it first happened as I laid there under an awning while people went to work around me. It was such a beautiful picture as the rain came down and singing filled the air.
I have questioned a lot since the accident and if I am even still supposed to go on this trip. The more I have prayed about it the more sure I am that I broke my leg to further prepare me for the trip. It showed me how quickly people can come together and how important family is. Things that I think I did not quite have a full understanding of before, and took for granted. It also taught me how fragile I am and how God can piece me back together, not only in a physical sense, but in spiritual one as well. God has let so many people serve me and show me what that word truly means and I am more ready to serve people than ever before. I will definitely say that I am more scared now. Not for my leg, but just when I think about how things can change so quickly and how I am going to have to trust God to get me through it. However, I believe, more than ever, that God is calling me to go on this trip. I have been healing wonderfully and am currently in physical therapy. I did have surgery on my leg since it was a pretty bad break and I now have a metal plate, ten screws, and a clip of some sort holding me together. I just got off my crutches sept.15 but I have been walking and moving around and am determined to get it completely back to normal. The therapist said that I should definitely be my old self by the time January gets here, which will be my new start date for the trip.
I want to thank you all for supporting me and praying for me so far in this journey. I will be going back to training camp in mid-October so let’s pray I stay in one piece this time! Before the accident I had done one large fundraiser where I got donations of miscellaneous items from people and then had a large yard sale. I ended up making about 2,000 dollars at it. However, my fundraising has definitely come to almost a halt since training camp. I currently have 3,691 in my account and I need a total of 15,000 to be fully funded for my trip. I am definitely going to be a busy girl now until I leave. I included a response card in this letter if any of you feel that you could support me further. Any checks can be made out to Adventures in Missions, PO Box 534470, Atlanta, GA, 30353-4470. If anyone would like to make a donation online, you can do so by visiting my blog site at: MorganPark.theworldrace.org. Simply click the “SupportMe” link in the upper left side of the page and complete as the site instructs you.
It has definitely been a long journey and I know that it is going to get longer and harder but I want all of you with me along the way. I am so grateful that God has put people like you in my life that care about me and God’s kingdom. Thank you once again for being here for me and encouraging me in this incredible journey. I believe that God is truly going to use me as I embark on this mission for him and his people. I love you all.
