This blog post is long overdue! So many people have been asking me what training camp was like and if I had fun. I’m not sure that I would use the word fun, but it was an amazing week of growth, love, and laughs. I remember after every team formation exercise I was asked how I was doing…..all I ever said was “this is so hard” Every. Time. Before coming to camp we were told to leave our expectations at home and come with a willing spirit and just let go. So I chose to let go, get on the plane, and just arrive with my pack and a willing spirit. We knew what we needed to know when we needed to know it, which was not always easy but it helped to build trust between us and Adventures. We served each other and cried together and at the end of the week we had squad wars and team time!

After coming home I wondered what my greatest challenge was. I spent the whole week sick and feeling pretty miserable. …I prayed every day that God would just heal me so that I could get to know my team and not want to sleep all day. I just wanted to sing and talk without coughing. My sickness was not healed at training camp, I don’t think that my squad really got to know me, but I learned how to let go of myself and deal with the circumstances.

If you get sick then you get sick….you ask for prayer and you move on. So many friends watched out for me all week and I was humbled by that. People who weren’t even on my squad we coming to me with support. I watched in amazement that week and found a family of believers and not 5 separate squads. It was awesome! No barriers just lots and lots of love!

By the end of the week it was time to throw on some more purple and gather together for one last evening together! I don’t remember who won, but it really didn’t matter. It was just plain fun guys. It really was.
