Hey all!  First I want to let everyone reading know that all the World Racers are having a friendly little blog comment contest to see who can get the most comments.  So, if you read this (even if you just skim) not that anyone would ever want to skim my amazing writing =),
please post a comment.  I would be so excited, not only will I get bragging rights but a cool REI gift

 certificate
as well.  If you post put your e-mail so I can write you back.

The following post is part of an application I had to fill out, but I thought it was important information to share.

Why are you going on this missions trip?

1. To Grow – Ultimately I want to fall more in love with God every day and live out that love with the people I get to interact with. I want to learn more about the world and more about who God is through the people He brings me into contact with. I believe that missions is two sided, it’s not about “us” helping “them” but it’s about being the Body of Christ with the church all over the world. How amazing to have the chance to learn from Christians in all types of circumstances and communicate what I learn with the American Christians.

2. To Serve – I am excited to dedicate a year to serving how ever possible. My desire it to use the gifts, skills and ministry training that God has given me to encourage believers and reach out to those who don’t yet know Christ. One thing that really excites me about the World Race is the variety of ministries we will be serving in. Everything from disaster relief to administering camps for youth to planting churches to working with AIDS orphans. One of the main goals that A.I.M. has for our trip is that we will learn how to go into a place, discern how God is working in that place and jump in with that work.

3. To gain experience – I love leading mission opportunities, especially trips for youth. One of my dreams is to spend as much time as possible planning, training, taking and leading people in mission experiences. Going on the World Race this year will give me the chance to learn about many different cultures and different places. My desire is to use the knowledge that I gain this year to eventually lead teams of people from the United States overseas.

4. To live out the gospel – At this point in my life this is the way that God is calling me to live out the gospel. To literally sell what I have give it to the poor and follow him. I am in an amazing stage in my life. God has given me the gift of being single and having fairly few obligations, so now it the time to embark on this type of pilgrimage. I’m excited that I have the chance to minister to orphans, people trapped by poverty and A.I.D.S., the types of people who Jesus spent his life on earth with.
