I’m sitting here at LAX waiting for my plane to board!  Can’t believe that I’m actually here.  This is really happening, I am really leaving for Africa today. Some how everything got in to the suit case and backpack (it was an accomplishment), and Molly and Brittany got me to the airport!

I’ve been thinking a lot today about the difference between
expectations and hope.  One thing that God continually taught me on The  Race last year was that most of the time things don’t go the way I want them to.  Often times when going into a trip I don’t even
realize what my expectations are and how unrealistic they are.  It’s a process for me to surrender those expectations (if you haven’t realized in reading this blog I have total control issues=) ) and let God replace those expectations with hope that comes from Him.

One of the things I am hoping from this trip is to see Thulane who I met in July 2007 and wrote about here

Thanks so much for your prayers and comments.  About 4 am pacific time I’ll be landing in London, then it’s a 6 hour wait there, and another 10-12 hour flight to Jo Berg, I get in at 7 am on the 29th.  I’ll try to post when I can while traveling.  Have a great day!!!
