Time out!  I was looking back and realized that my blogs have been a little heavy lately.  God’s shown me a lot of hope in the last few days.  The
NightLight web site,
www.nightlightbangkok.com has the quote, “I would rather light a
candle than curse the darkness,” (Eleanor Roosevelt)  posted all over it.  I’m realizing just how true that is.  God has not called me to give my time to being angry at the darkness, He has called me to be a light, which means loving the person in front of me.

I’ve had a fun relaxing weekend, made new friends, seen cool tourist sites and just enjoyed life.  A few weeks ago my uncle e-mailed me and said that his friends, from our home town, would be passing through Bangkok at the end of their mission trip.  Through the magic of e-mail and the grace of God’s timing, we were able to connect.  How crazy, meeting up with a family from Bend, OR, my home town, 1/2 way around the world.

Me with Carson, Dallas, Alexi and Dave, my new friends from Bend!

Dave and his three kids, Dallas 12, Alexi 11, and Carson 6, just returned from Nepal.  One of the organizations that he runs,
Randsom Wear has a similar vision as
NightLight, they help rescue Nepali women (and girls) from brothels in India and return them to Nepal.  Often the families
of the girls who are rescued don’t want anything to do with them.  So the girls are given job training and taught to make beautiful items.  The items are then purchased and marketed in the USA as
Randsom Wear – freedom never felt so good.  This employment keeps the girls from returning to the brothels.  The website store is:
www.ransomwear.org

I had a blast Rogers family!  They treated me to a “day in America.”  We met up in a mall, went to Ocean World, kind of like Sea World only no
Shammu and underneath a giant mall, then had dinner at
McDonald’s.  It was so fun to relax an enjoy life.  I loved hearing all their dreams and visions.  It was nice to be a part of their family for a few days!  One of the huge things that God has shown me this year is that there are many people furthering darkness, but there is an even bigger network of people fighting for what is right.  God has allowed me to meet some amazing people, from all parts of the world, working towards what is right, true and just.

Fruit for sale

This morning a group of us World Racers went to the famous floating market.  The whole market is on water so you ride a boat though the canals and purchase items from other boats.  Unfortunately it is some kind of Chinese holiday so a lot of the boats weren’t out.  I was pretty excited because you could pull your boat up to the coffee stand and get a drink with out disembarking.  We also got coconut pancakes from a near by boat, yum, yum!

Tomorrow I head to the beach to debrief for a few days, then my team is off to
Batdambang, Cambodia.  While there we will be working with a student ministry.  More intense blogs to come.  As always your prayers and comments are greatly appreciated!!!
