Hello friends and family! Thanks for your
continued support and for talking to the boss for me even though I’ve been out
of contact. I am doing
really well. China
has been a lot of fun! It’s beautiful here!
I’ve really enjoyed making new friends this month and loved
the cultural exchange at the University we had for the last few weeks. I got to go back to school, only this time I got
to learn things like calligraphy, paper cutting, traditional Chinese medicine (I
saw babies with acupuncture needles all over their heads), and Chinese history.
It was great.
Now I am in a beautiful touristy city getting to see a great
part of China..
I met a girl at university who is a sister and that was wonderful. We got
to encourage each other a lot. I can not wait to really update you
on all that the boss is up to here.
For now here are some pictures of my friends and me, we
had an amazing time exploring on moped’s today and hiking to the top of a
beautiful mountain. We are having a wonderful time
together. Some of our best times have been in the mornings when
we come together and talk to the boss.
We are leaving for Beijing
tonight and it’s going to be a heck of a train ride. We bus two hours to
another city then get on the train at 11 pm it’s about a 30 hour ride and we
get off at 6 am a day and a half later! I’m not looking forward to the marathon
travel but at least we have semi beds on the sleeper car. I’m excited to
see the Great Wall, seems to be worth all the travel. It would just be
sad to go to China
and miss the great wall. After that we well be in Beijing
and then back to Hong Kong (where
I will have a lot more e-mail access).
It’s beautiful here today, one of the first really nice days
in China.
I got to spend a few hours talking to an older Chinese gentleman who has
traveled all over the world. He was fascinating, he has met Neil
Armstrong and Bill Gates and helped to host them when they
visited China.
He knows a lot about the politics here. I learned so much from him and
will tell you more when I can. Only two more weeks!!
