The reality that I’m leaving San Diego is starting to hit. A week ago Wednesday Joy and I camped out in the living room of the condo after scrubbing every possible surface until 3:30 am. Part of the reason why it took us so long to do the final cleaning because we took an In and Out break at 9 pm, to celebrate our friendship. The first time we really talked was after a golf tournament at In and Out, and we wanted to commemorate that. Life is short, and the little things should be celebrated as often as possible.
While inhaling our animal style burgers we reminisced about the Saturday last winter when we got to know each other on a deeper level then just saying hi at young adults group. On that day we realized that we had very similar goals and, started dreaming about what we wanted for our lives. Three goals were specifically discussed, we wanted a community of friends, we wanted out of relationships that were unhealthy and we wanted to do a triathlon.
Joy and I make a perfect team. I bring a lot of passion and energy to any project; I’m great at starting off strong.
Joy is the planner who can help direct that whirlwind into forward motion, and keep things on track. One thing I’ve been learning is that everyone has different gifts in life and finding people who’s gifts are complementary to yours is such a pleasure.
We were awed by the fact that we had done everything initially talked about during that first In and Out lunch! This summer we finished our first triathlon and even placed second and third in our division. We let go of some unhealthy relationships in our lives, were blessed by wonderful friendships, and now have a great community of friends.
I was reminded of those amazing friendships on Thursday evening when I got one of the best surprises of my life.
To be continued tomorrow….
