This past week I finished a book called “Remembering the Roses” by the wonderful Lynette Lewis. In her book she makes a wonderful correlation of how certain stages of one’s life can be like a marathon or more fitting, a race. Lynette, a resident of NYC, notes how the first time she ever watched the New York City Marathon she didn’t understand why racers would have their names printed on their tee shirts in big, bold letters. She saw it as a form of self-promotion and a little unusual. It wasn’t until audience members near the finish line started calling out those racers names. Lynette realized how the racers began to pick up momentum as the audience cheered louder and encouraged each runner to finish the race. Lynette than recognized, that those racers put their names on their shirts because they needed a team of encouragers, supporters and friends to help them finish their marathon.
How often are we so proud that we cannot admit we need help? Or we feel that we can accomplish a huge task on our own? I admit that I am like that and I often take on things that at are too big to do alone. I often forget that my journey is not just about me but about those who are running the Race with me as well.
Through support raising the Lord has humbled me tremendously. He has shown me His provision and that there are people who support my dreams and my journey to fulfill His vision. Through the World Race I am not just going alone but with a group of supporters calling my name, who are rooting for me to keep going.
I have already met my first two deadlines that allow me to attend Training Camp in July and Launch in September. I am so blessed and thankful for those who have been praying for me and those who have supported the cause. My prayer focus for this week is that those on my World Race Squad would also meet their deadlines as well.
Hebrews 12:1 Therefore since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.
