Four months ago I sat across the table from Clint Bolkeman. I was freshly off the field from the World Race and eager to go back.  I agreed to lead a passport trip, where I would be leading college aged students for three months in Guatemala.

As I sat at that table I was accompanied by other leaders who were being sent to all parts of the world to fulfill the call to lead these young men and women. We were having a nightly meeting in which Clint was in attendance.  We were telling him where we were going, when the conversation got to me. He asked me which nation I was going to and I replied Guatemala. He then asked me a second question that caught me off guard. He asked me if I knew what the reigning principality over Guatemala was.  After living all over the world with nations dedicated to idolatry and witchcraft, I expected the worst. He simply replied El Principe De Paz, which in Spanish means the Prince of Peace.  And He was right.

There is something about the peace that reigns in Guatemala. You can’t run from it. You can’t deny it.  Despite the poverty, despite the corruption, His peace is clear and His peace is evident and it is over this nation.  For three months my team was able to be a part of that.

As we sat at the table, Clint also informed me that I have family there.  I thought he was telling me something I didn’t know, or something prophetic, which in a way he was. While we were there we were introduced to the Adventures long term team that is based in Antigua.  This base has inserted themselves into the culture and are continually building lasting relationships with the community.  Their heart is to disciple Guatemalans so that they can then disciple others.  Their heart and core is to also seek the Father in everything they do.

While we were in Guatemala, they directed us to the Father and loved us where we were at, much like a family, in which I can’t deny.

So who knew… Guatemala? A tiny country not bigger than the state of Tennessee, would be where the Lord is calling me to next.   His Peace and family are something I cannot wait to be a part of.
