Yesterday I can’t begin to describe how blessed we were. We went to class as usual to teach our first class. After, we typically have a 3 hour break before we start our second class. Usual my team takes this time to go to back to the apartment to regroup and rest. Yesterday, however some of us took this time to be adventurous and explore the town a little bit more. We haven’t been able to have reliable internet so we were also in search of an internet café. On our walk we ran into our pastor Meco and he told us he knew where one was near his house. He personal escorted us there to realize that the internet was not even working. He concerned as usual invited us into his home to use his personal computer and wifi. We gladly accepted and sat with him in his home. His wife, mother in law and close friend we in the kitchen cooking up a storm and told us that they were cooking for us. I told her that I would love to stay but I needed to check on the other girls to make sure they were okay and then to prepare a lesson for the next class. Two girls stayed, while Amber and I walked home. Mind you it is probably a 15 minute walk from Meco’s house to ours. So when we get there the other girls are nowhere to be found except for Jess who has been home sick. We were probably in the door for 2 minutes before we heard a knock on the door. It was Meco telling us to please come back to the house to eat and that he had ran into the other girls and told them to go to his house as well. I felt that I could not refuse so we all came back with him. When we got there we were greeted with a huge feast! There was salad, rice with crab meat, grilled chicken and Panini pressed sandwiches. I was so overwhelmed I couldn’t help but tear up. His wife had prepared all this food for us and I felt so lucky. They told us that it was their pleasure and that it is the least they could do to share their gratitude. During that meal we probably ate the most food we have eaten the whole week. When we were done we helped with the dishes and then she made us coffee and then we left for our second class. While we there we had a blast helping with the kids. As we were leaving Ramona, a teacher at compassion invited us to her house for dinner. Even though none of us were hungry, we kindly accepted her offer and joined her and her family in her small humble home. We got there and the power was out so we helped her cook using our headlamps to illuminate the kitchen. While Ramona was finishing cooking, we sat with her husband and children and talked about the town and each other’s families. While we were talking she called me into the kitchen and asked me to pray for the food. It was such a sweet moment, that I was one able to pray for the meal but also her family and speak blessings over her house. The meal was wonderful and we all really enjoyed getting to spend time with Ramona and her family. As we were walking home, just recounting all the great things that happened throughout the day we looked up in the sky and saw shooting stars. It was such a wonderful ending of such a blessed day.
